Kitten shots? PLEASE HELP!

Ok so my cousin got their cat not very long ago but he was like 5 months old. He had never had a vaccine in his life. They took him to get neutered and while there he got the rabies, CVR-C, and revolution as seen on this site,

pethavenonline.org

They are going to take him to the vet but they were wondering if he should still get all of his kitten shots even though his is almost full-grown. What shots will he receive in addition to the vaccines he already got? Any help on the matter would be really appreciated

The vet should know exactly what he needs, especially if he is the one that neutered him. He will probably get one or two more since some of the vaccines need to be given more than once to insure he is covered from diseases.

If they are taking him to a different vet, they need to obtain his records to make sure that he doesn't receive a double dose of a vaccine that he already got. In most states, rabies vaccine is required every year. There are also 3-year rabies vaccines available, but I wouldn't recommend them. They are not as safe as the 1-year vaccine. If the kitten goes outside, it should get distemper and feline leukemia vaccines as well. The vet will recommend what vaccines are age appropriate for your cousin's cat.

I agree, the vet should know what vaccines your kitty needs. Here is a link to the current American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) vaccine guidelines.

There have been some fairly recent changes in vaccine recommendations and not all manufacturers have updated their directions. Ask your vet if they go with the AAFP guidelines and what vaccines your kitty needs.

Every cat needs vaccine yearly. The regular schedule of first vaccination is: 1st dose of the triple or quadruple (none as: CVR-C) or quintuple vaccine (your vet will choose according to your cat life style) and one month later a 2nd dose for full immunization. Yearly, cats need 1 dose for reinforcement.
Rabies is one dose only and needs to be done once a year (only in kittens older than 90 days).
Revolution is part of the de-worning/anti-parasite schedule. De-worming process has two stages: 1st dose and after 15 to 21 days a 2nd dose (to kill worm’s eggs). Some particular cases need different approach. It must be done at least once a year, but depending on your cat life style your vet will recommend you an ideal de-worming schedule.
It sounds that your kitten is ok! But he needs to take the 2nd dose of CVR-C after 30 days of the first dose. If you have any doubt you should ask your vet. Don’t be shy, if your vet is not available to answer you, you should look for a better vet! :)
