Coffee Cake got spayed today

A few days ago I captured a pic of Coffee & Stripe sleeping in the same window. Coffee growls when she senses him coming and neither of us trust him enough since he still beats her & Brownie up.

Yesterday I was noticing that Coffee Cake kept jerking herself awake as she tried to sleep as her head slowly fell. She prefers the Pyramid bed you see in pictures be flatten to death vs the Pyramind shape it's suppose to be. Everytime I've put it back thinking it was a fluke, 10 mins later I would turn around and see that it was flat again with her beating it up and chewing on it. I've since given up, even though Stripe prefers it the proper way, at least he can still sleep in the doggie bed right next to it.
After picking her up from the ASPCA truc, she wasn't as clumsy as I expected her to be for the last time I put her in a cone, she walked backwards and kept her head low. The cone they provided is smaller than I one I have so it seems to be working better or she just got used to it quicker. Which reminds me she wouldn't let me say "see you later" when she was put in the cage. She kept to herself in a corner and denied coming to the gate to greet me.

She is at home with green stitches/glue whatever it is. Waiting to see what changes she may make if any. From what I can tell she hasn't been in heat yet at the age of 7 months and she did stop her crazy nibbling as of a month ago. So I basically expect her to stay the same. I just have to get her used to being outside. She freaked when I opened the door today with her in the carrier. And yesterday while I walked my friend to the door while holding her.

How do I make a swallowing cat happy? Feb 17 '12

It's because a Catster email that I bought my first cat condo due to Coffee Cake running every which way as if her butt was on fire. I just caught her trying to swallow a 12"+ string again. Someone mentioned pica, but I don't understand what pica has to do with string, yarn, chewing cardboard to her hearts content, wires. Oh right, you don't know the whole story yet. It's as if she's training to be a circus freak, Ala a sword swallower. A week ago I woke up to her throwing up. What color was it you ask. Red, bright red. Formerly belonging to the lump of yarn I left on the floor for them all to play with. No longer a toy for them. Now in a pile to restuff the cats bed. Weeks before that I discovered she chewed 2 out of 3 wires from my interactive mousepad. Since then I've been hiding the cord to my electric heater. I would be really pissed if that was gone. Turns out she has already started. Fortunately it's not that bad. Spring where are you? For a month now after I got my dial tone back, there has been static on my line. Verizon says there's something happening on my end and to check my wires. Told them it wasn't possible since it started a week after the dial tone returned. Not telling them I had a kitten with a weird appetite, but thinking to myself there's no access for her to get to the wires anyway. I've been holding off getting a repair done, trying to get to the root of it myself. Imagine my surprise today when I discovered that she's been nibbling on my phone wires after all!!! I'm lucky that the dial tone was Verizon's issue and not my fault. Overall this furball/termite/goat/shark/bunny is driving me bonkers. What fuels this habit? Is it genetic? I'm beginning to think this is why no one came looking for her when I found her. I can't do the same thing. I thought Brownie was bad, but compared to Coffee, she's minor, especially since she hasn't grown out of it and I think she's 8 now. Brownie would chew on paper, my hands, purse and magazines. Coffee chews on all that and whatever she can find, including rubber bands. Brownie calmed down a little when I bought her dog toys. They don't faze Coffee who ignores them after a second or two. One day I notice something isn't attractive to her. The next day it becomes edible. That's what happened with that string today. For months now she's been playing with the toy connected to that string. She would play fetch with it by herself ignoring me. Today she finally bit it in 2 pieces and attempted to swallow with the plastic connector still on. She was smart enough to remove the 3" toy however. Would spraying things with vinegar help, or do you have a better idea? My purse hasn't been that interesting to her, but I don't want to take any chances. She's worse than Stripe when she sees I have food in my hands. She becomes a big dog and insists it's her turn. She's only 5 months now. I hope she grows out of this. Oh and she finds Ariel to be the best toy. Is that normal since Ariel is the oldest at 11yrs? When Ariel is in the dome litter box, Coffee jumps on top to pet Ariel's head as it sticks out as if to say "Good job". I need to get pics of that. I'm usually too busy laughing as I watch. When Brownie came she wanted to play with Biscuit who wasn't receptive at first. I need to find more kittykickers. She loved that when I first introduced it to her. The others would use it as a pillow. Coffee deflated it in a day or 2. No more stuffing left.

Playing vet to kitty: 2 to 1 Feb 17 '12

I tried to give Coffee Cake meds for her diaherra 2 days ago and acted as if she was having a seizure. Tried to spray her mouth today to ensure good breath, she put up another fight, but I won when I used a towel wherein she gave me a evil look when done. Was suppose to spray at least twice, yet instructions say better at night before bed. So I'll do it again then tonight. Wasn't hard to open Ariels mouth. Coffee is ifne with her nails getting cut as long as I don't cut blood. Need to try brushing her teeth at least. Stripe loves it for the taste. He would lick the brush like a lollipop if I let him. Biscuit enjoyed it too, until she got too old.

Coffee Cake: The kitty who wants to be a goat or shark Jan- 19 '12

Can anyone tell me why Coffee is eating everything she can get her mouth on and swallowing it? To add to the sistal rope incident, she has now attempted to swallow rubber bands that I've fortunately caught her in the act with. She cuts them in half then swallows them whole. Anything that is string related she goes for. What does it mean? I know dogs eating cats #2 means they lack protein, so what does this mean? What is she trying to tell me?

Coffee Cake on the prowl Jan 11 '11

Here's Coffee Cake in all her regal glory. I had to remove the collar from her for twice while I was home she somehow got her bottom jaw caught in it and was choking. I didn't want to take any chances while I was gone. She may not like it but when she gets bigger I'll put it back on. Apparently even though I made it as tight as allowed for 3 fingers to fit, it's still too big for her neck. Unlike Stripe who slept on the above bag out of anger once I brought him home in it, she associates it with warmth and thinks it's a bed.

She still manages to enjoy getting in front of the TV, in addition to stealing food off my plate like a ninja.

Stripe managed to give her a Boo boo on her shoulder as he beat her up weeks ago. She was licking it like crazy as it oozed pus so I put a cone on her. Didn't take to it well. She walked backwards and kept her head down slowing herself down. I then applied a bandage that made her walk funny but at least that made the boo boo go away.

The first and only cat condo I've ever bought is in the house now. She can thank a recent article in catster for that. She uses floors 2-4, while Ariel uses the 1st floor. Since everyone wants to eat her Kitten Chow I have to hide it on the 3rd fl. Fortunately they think jumping is for annoying kittens and don't go up that far. They all use it as a scratching post and have been leaving small remnants of carpet behind. I'm afraid Coffee is going to make that her next appetizer so I need to get rid of it. Can never tell with this furry enigma.

Coffee!!! (Like Alvin!) Jan 9 '12

Turns out it took 90 mins for the technician to get my dial tone back. Told myself happy early birthday and new year to me. And the fact that I had to wait a week, much worse. And to add to it, yesterday when I tried to go online, turns out my router burned out. Had to get another one today. Just my luck. Coffee Cake wanted to be sure I had much to say when I returned. The day I got my dial tone back I was on the phone when I noticed that she went to the litter box, only to exit with a long string coming out of her behind. My first thought was clumped cat hair, followed by weird diahera. She scooted on my carpet like a puppy only to run around as if her butt was on the fire. That's when she scooted on my bed too and wouldn't stay still. By the time I caught up to her I realized that it was sistal rope from the scratching post! I freaked pondering if I should take her to the emergency vet after 1am or risk pulling out her intestines? Since she was bouncing and scooting around, crying and stinking up my room, I decided on the latter. Turns out it was 8 inches long! I saw that there was another on the floor (not as flat as the one I extracted) that was 2.5 ft. I threw that one away immediately to prevent further injury. Hopefully the cat condo I promised her will get her on track. So far she's using it as a circus and exercise gym. She reaches out an swats me as I pass by and does these quick tricks while climbing up it every once in a while. Coffee is using it more than the others who just use the lower level if any vs attempting higher which is her preferred spot as I expected.

Someone posted a similar video days ago of another cat eating watermelon. My cats seem to prefer pineapple in a can. I gave some to Coffee Cake yesterday and today and she gobbled it up. Yet her and none of the others will touch the watermelon I left in their bowl. Coffee did try to steal my ears of corn and veggie sausage before I could even cook it off my plate days ago. She seems feral in that regard even though she was in the backyard for only one day or more. She freaks when I show her outside as if I'm going to throw her back. Lately she goes for my food before I could even take a bite. It's as if I have an annoying baby sister on my hands. If not a puppy.

Coffee Cake's recent Vet visit Dec 17 '11

Does anyone agree with me that it looks as if Coffee has a heart and not some blob on the side of her? Took her to the vet today for her last visit of the year till I get her spayed. For the 1st time (her 3rd trip) she cried while in the carrier. Before we left, I had to go somewhere and I left her alone with Brownie & Ariel whom each have a habit of picking on her. They're not as bad as Stripe who really goes after her and tries to rip her to shreds. That's why he's not allowed in my bedroom when I'm not home anymore. I have to close my door vs leaving it wide open as I normally would. Hope to do that again when she grows up to be a year at least able to defend herself. So far she just growls and runs.
She met a bunny while we were at Petco. Along with parrakets and guinea pigs that she didn't get too excited about.
She got a Rabies vaccination which meant jewelry and a collar. It may look as if she acting like a princess and saying "Look at my new jewelry. Don't I look pretty?" But she's actually trying to bite it off for she doesn't like wearing a collar or a harness for that matter.
Coffee is definitely more active than any cat/kitten I've ever encountered. She sometimes keep me up in the early AM for she sleeps all day. That includes walking in front of the TV and swatting, hiding behind the TV, climbing whatever she can find, knocking it down, waking me up, climbing and scratching my red curtains as seen above. I just read an article from catster that a cat this active should have cat furniture.
As in tall and challenging. Apparently this is minuscule to her. So while at Petco I looked around and even let her try them out. She tried to hide instead. There were 2 I really wanted but they were outside my price range. Ranging from 70-$80. Fortunately I did make a purchase and got a coupon for 10% my entire purchase. Unfortunately I can't use it until Dec 26. The furballs will literally be waiting for a belated Xmas gift. It made me realize as long as I've been a Petco customer (at least 5 yrs?) I've never gotten a coupon by email or postal. So I registered online so now I just wait.

Very active kitty. This must be what having a 2yr old toddler is like.

Kitty ate my headphones! Oct 28 '11

This must be what having an actual child feels like. Coffee Cake chewed my headphones just as Brownie did when she arrived to say that she made herself comfortable. In the past week she has definitely been making herself at home. She discovered she could jump and is therefore going anywhere her little legs
can carry her. Under my bed. Above my computer and on my printer. Plus at night she runs as if her tail is on fire. She's either exercising or doing what Stripe does and trying to hide the fact that she went #2. She found Brownie and Ariels tails and as of yesterday has been chasing after their tails in order to play.
Yesterday I came home to find who I think are her parents. I've only seen them in the frontyard yet I found her in the backyard. I only know of 2 other cats who go back and forth.
I have a better pic of the possible mommy. Orange Daddy is a scaredy cat. All his pics came out blurry. Didn't help that it was dark.

Coffee won't pose for the camera Oct 24 '11

I'm trying to take better pics of her but she's very wiggly. A furry slippery snake I would say. She's not like Stripe who happily poses when he sees the camera. She either wiggles away to play with something or bops the camera while I'm holding it. I'm thinking video might be better.
